China’s Jinko Power Technology Co Ltd (SHA:601778) has placed a winning bid to build a 300-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Saudi Arabia, according to a bourse filing on Tuesday.

Jinko said it offered the equivalent of USD 0.0148 (EUR 0.013) per kWh and that it estimates the total investment in the Saudi project to be USD 209 million. The company, though, noted that no contracts have been signed yet.

The solar park is planned to be built in the desert area of Saad, about 85 km east of Riyadh, over a period of 24 months. There, it is expected to generate some 876 million kWh of electricity per year.

The project is being awarded as part of the third round of the Kingdom’s national renewable energy programme.
