France’s Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply domestic retail chain Leroy Merlin with electricity from a 30-MW solar project.
To serve the new 15-year contract, Voltalia will build the photovoltaic (PV) power plant in France’s Centre-Val de Loire region, it announced on Monday. The solar park is expected to come into operation in 2025
Concluded at a pre-determined price, the off-take deal will cover around 15% of the buyer’s annual electricity consumption. Voltalia also pointed out in the press release that the agreement can be extended.
Leroy Merlin France’s Director of Development, Jerome Paternotte, noted that the retailer is planning to have all its stores powered 100% by renewable sources by 2025, with a portion of the clean electricity to be generated directly on-site. The chain has 143 stores across France.
