Uzbekistan plans 500 megawatts of solar energy at three sites – EQ Mag Pro

Ministry of Energy and National Grid of Uzbekistan has launched a Request for Proposal (RfP) stage of a tender to select independent power producers to develop solar PV plants in Uzbekistan.

International Finance Corporation is acting as a lead transaction advisor to the Government of Uzbekistan for the tender.

The tender includes three sites, 250MW in Bukhara, 150MW in Namangan and 100MW in Khorezm with a total capacity of 500MW.

The winning developers are expected to design, finance, operate, maintain, and transfer the solar PV plants.

For Bukhara site integration of the battery energy storage system has been added into the project scope.

Following the shortlisting of potential bidders for the three PV projects in Bukhara, Namangan, and Khorezm regions, announced on 30 March 2022, the RfP is being shared with 11 prequalified bidders, including Masdar (UAE), Alarko Holding (Turkey), GD Power consortium (China), ACWA Power (Saudi Arabia) and Solarpack Corporación Tecnológica (Spain).
