Chinese solar technology company Longi will deliver its Hi-MO 5 (72C) modules for the 400-MW direct current (DC) Rabigh Solar PV IPP project in Saudi Arabia.

The announcement of the module supply deal was made on Friday during a ceremony in Riyadh attended by Longi and its partner Green Technology Company (GTek Solar).

Longi was awarded the supply contract by the project’s EPC contractor, China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Power Engineering Co Ltd (CEEC-GPEC).

Located in the kingdom’s western Makkah province, the solar park has a commercial operation date (COD) set for July 2023.

Rabigh is Japanese Marubeni Corp’s (TYO:8002) first large-scale solar project in Saudi Arabia. In 2021, Marubeni signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC), starting from the solar park’s COD.
