Libya is evaluating subsidies for renewable energies, the Privatization and Investment Board (PIB) reported Monday.
This comes after current incumbent Caretaker Prime Minister, Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba, had passed decree 131/2022 regarding the formation of a committee to assess the feasibility of adding the renewable energies item within the existing fuel subsidy.
The PIB reported that the committee held a meeting on April 5 to review the decree 131/2022 and to propose the development of a mechanism for financing renewable energy projects.
The committee consists of the PIB chairman, representatives of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), the Central Bank of Libya and the Renewable Energies Authority of Libya (REAoL).
