Expected to be commissioned by mid-2025, the Amunet project will play a pivotal role in Egypt’s pursuit of affordable and clean energy

China-headquartered Envision Energy has secured a lucrative wind turbines deal from UAE-based AMEA Power for the Amunet 500 MW wind farm project in Egypt.

The project, which has obtained financing from a consortium of banks including the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), is set to transform Egypt’s energy landscape.

AMEA Power specifically chose Envision’s cutting-edge EN 171-6.5 MW wind turbines for their unparalleled efficiency, reliability, and ability to withstand even the harshest environmental conditions, according to a press statement.

Equipped with advanced control systems, these turbines optimise performance, maximise energy production, and minimise costly downtime and maintenance expenses.

Expected to be commissioned by mid-2025, the Amunet project will play a pivotal role in Egypt’s pursuit of affordable and clean energy.

By contributing to the country’s ambitious target of generating 42% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2035, the project will significantly reduce carbon emissions and bolster sustainability efforts.

Envision Energy’s General Manager of Asia and Africa, John Lee, expressed confidence in the company’s expertise in new energy infrastructure, combining renewable solutions with energy storage, digital grid technologies, and green hydrogen initiatives.

Amunet Wind Power Company is owned 60% by AMEA Power and 40% by Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation.
