Independent solar power producer (IPP) Sonnedix Power Holdings Ltd said today that it has finalised the acquisition of a 9-MW solar project from Canadian firm Distributed Power Partners (DPP) in Chile.

The project, given the name Sonnedix Corso Solar, is in “a well-advanced stage of development”, the IPP said. Construction works at the site, located near the city of Copiapo in the Atacama region, are expected to commence in the second quarter of 2022.

As a 9-MW development, Sonnedix Corso Solar is entitled to operate under Chile’s special regime for distributed generation (DG) projects, locally known as PMGD, and sell its output at stabilised prices. According to Sonnedix, the project is applying for PMGD.

The latest transaction is the third time that Sonnedix has turned to DPP, which specialises in solar DG project development. Back in December 2021, Sonnedix announced the acquisition of two 9-MW projects from the Canadian firm.
